1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 8-oz pkg cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
Mix cream cheese, sugar, and butter. Add egg and flavoring. Beat until smooth. Stir together flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Add to cream mixture. Chill dough. Roll out on surface dusted with 1/2 powder sugar, 1/2 flour. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Do not over bake; if golden brown, they are too done! (or skip the mess and just roll into balls with hands and then flatten them into circles and lay them on the cookie sheet.)
Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbs softened butter
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 egg white
1/4 cup milk or cream
Combine egg white and milk, set aside. Beat together powdered sugar, butter, and flavorings. Add small amounts of milk mixture until icing reaches spreading consistency. The egg white makes the frosting shiny and pretty.
